What next GOP? Please...you got the candidates you asked for...your attempts to bring down the Obama/Biden ticket are pathetic. Americans are so sick of your last minute Swiftboat tactics. You really don't have anything else do you? No plan for help with our economy, no plan for heath care and no plan to get us out of Iraq. Our plan is to get new leadership.

The GOP is just getting more and more desperate. They can not effectively "sell" McCain and Palin, so their only remaining strategy is to attack Obama any way possible. When John McCain had his day in the sun to tell America about his positive vision for the future, he instead snarled and growled like an angry old attack dog. How sad and how pitiful.

You guys are all fools...There is gonna be no change with either of these tickets. Our nation is bankrupt and we will be in a full recession by the middle of next year so save your donations to feed your familys.Change is all people are gonna have in the next couple of years so use it wisely!

They are getting desperate, they must think their chances of winning are not very good without pulling out a bunch of stunts.

Just another shot at moving the conversation and the press away from the issues.

Embarrassing... The Republicans are doing everything but attacking the root cause of their problems. .. John McCain.

Do I have to jam my finger down my throat and make myself sick? What won't the Repubs do to get elected? If Obama had been in the military, they would have blown his boat outta the water already.
It absolutely boggles the human mind as to their embarrassing and lowlife attempts to thwart an honorable, American tradition of selecting the best candidate for the job. Heay, America, hide all your wrenches, power drills & chainsaws and lock dem dar voting machines in a failsafe vault that could withstand nu-cle-ar war. And, Palin, listen carefully to its pronunciation. And, the Repubs and those two are an embarrassment with Americans who possess minds.

I saw an article last week of the 'small donors' that BO keeps bragging about. There was one 'small donor' who donated $25 over 1,000 different times by the same made up name. It also told about Kadafi giving a speech to encourage donations to a fund for BO that was 'legal'.
Of course, since the democrats see no problems with terrorists, America haters, illegal realestate 'developers', etc., why should they have a problem with BO ignoring any of the campaign donations laws. After all, Slick Willie taught them how easy it is to get by with it... just make sure those doing the donating are not in the country when they are called to testify. We now face a Chinese missile program with about a 25 year boost because of illegal campaign donations 12 years ago. Oh yes, we're not supposed to talk of the past... unless it's the left attacking Bush.

Get it in gear, and clean up the 2 pathetic messes ("Palin/McCain") YOUR party chose to represent the Republican/GOP party.
All you're doing is turning people off with all the crap that's going on with the Republican party, and more importantly, you're making us look like fools to the other countries.

First let me apologize for any grammatical errors.
I am recently became an American Citizen and I am still learning the English language.
My mother use to say:
"The worse blind is the one which does not want to see".
The sad thing about all this situation (Presidential Elections 2008) is that…after all is done… (Obama wins)…people are gone say: What happened? I was so sure!
He sounded so good!
To good to be true!
This is what I have to say...To much talk...Who is him? Do you really know Obama? Two years in the Senate…campaigning…that’s all!
Promises…He says what people want to hear!
We all gone pay a very high price for this big mistake we (you) are getting yourselves in…
Open your eyes people!
Study the situations…get informed…Don’t believe in promises!
Look at the person! Their precedent…
Don’t you know that “were there’s smoke there’s fire?”
We should be more prudent with our choices…
We leave in a very dangerous world…very dangerous…
Look at the history of this world!
We are all living in a “lalala” world, not taking in consideration that bad people are out there, and they are planning right now, as we speak, to kill us!
Even if it takes 100 years…They will succeed!
And do you want to know why!
JUST BECAUSE WE CHOOSE TO BE BLIND…AND DEAF!
BE CAREFUL…AND… GOOD LUCK!
God bless you all!

What IDIOT "announces" to the world that they're stepping up a smear campaign..... and then promptly execute the promises???
Oh I can see it now as "Palin/McCain" plan war strategy. They will probably send invitations letting them know when, where, why, and how they will be attached - and then requests RSVP's!! Morons!!!
Why not stop wasting our time, and continue your under-handed deeds as you've always done? Either way, it still very moronic and stupid!!
It's gotten so bad that the "Palin/McCain/Republican/GOP" machine doesn't even care if we know they're lyingnow. So blatant, arrogant and bold about it, and VERY disrespectful for what America stands for.
How shameful and embarrassing for the Republican/GOP Party.

The democrats did not have control in the last 6 years. Here's the scorecard.
2001-2002 House Rep by 9 seats(marginal) - 25 is effective. Senate flipped control 4 times. Of course 911 occured too and all the spending to build up military, and secure our nation, along with payments to 911 victims. Real control of the Senate begins at the 55-45 margin. The likelyhood of having enough votes (60) to end debate is probable. There is usually enough votes from the other side to cover any shortfall.
2003 - 2004 House Reps by 25, Senate Reps 51-49 President askes for programs that are progressive in nature and gets them. More War, more homeland security measures.
2005-2006 House Reps by 30, Senate 55-45. Although spending began to drop, Katrina and the surge kicked int. America had enough.
2007-2008 House Dems by 31, Senate Dems 51-49. This congress passed a modern history low in legislation, which was giving it 2 years of less spending then the previous 4 years. Bush used his veto to stop excessive spending when convenient (not enough defectors to override). 2008, was going to be only slightly higher than 2007 until the bailout bill.

RNC officials acknowledged Sunday that they do not have a list of foreign donors to Obama's campaign. Instead, the complaint is based largely on media reports, including one from a conservative Web site.
The new RNC (Desperate Useless Mendacious Bozos - DUMB), from now on that should be their initials. They keep going into their old bag of tricks (like Felix the Cat) and coming up with nothing. Is this the biased media they keep referencing, yet they are basing their possible complaint on "media reports". I don't think DUMB has even ONE brain to go around...and that is just judging from McDumb and FailinPalin.

I'm trying to understand something so I keep reading these posts. Each time I read, I learn a little more.
If John McCain or the GOP call anything into question about Obama, it's slander / propoganda, and attempt to divert attention, etc.
If Barack Obama questions anything, it's called "pointing out" or taken as correct.
Palin is regularly crucified for anything from winking to not talking about the past but Barack Obama is hailed as being a forward thinker if he doesn't talk about the past.
McCain is blasted if he brings us his military service because that's not an issue but Biden is on the front page sending his son off to military service.
McCain is lambasted because he knew Keating but Obama can sit in Rev. Wright's church for 20 years and it's okay.
Now, back to the issue in this article.....
Campaign funding has always been regulated. If Obama did take illegal contributions, then it should come out in an audit. Likewise, if he didn't, it will come out in an audit. Why are people hostile because the GOP is requesting that an audit take place?
Before anyone eviscerates me as a hate-mongering Republican, I'm actually a registered Democrat and have been for 25 years. I'm struggling because I am concerned with the viscious media bias that is blatantly present in articles posted everywhere. If no one is allowed to question anything about Barack Obama or John McCain, then the voting public will never be able to know what is actually going on and that is soooooooo dangerous.
The media used to be a system of accountability for public candidates because they didn't lean in either direction. Their purpose was to objectively report the facts. It doesn't appear that the media or several others have maintained that ethical distance that enables voters to make decisions based on issues - not personalities.

Every time I read/hear crap like this I go and donate to OBAMA. I'm getting near the limit.
McCain can't stand it that Barack has so many ordinary citizens who sacrifice a lot but they feel it is critical that good people take back America from the extreme right wing , hell bent for destruction, republicans. Those fruit cakes can take a look at my contributions any time. I've nothing to hide.
Desperate, desperate McCain. Sad. Very sad. "Country First"??? yeah right . That crap plays well in Podunk, Mississippi or Skunkwater, Georgia I'm sure.

they don't understand that regular working people make up 95% of donations in support of the Obama Campaign. I gave my 1st donation which wasn't more than 4 bucks afer hearing Obama's DNC speech. The next time i gave 5 bucks in august and someone emailed me back saying that they matched my humble donation. last week i gave 30 dollars, joined neighbor 2 neighbor to make phone calls from the comfort of my home in support of Obama.
Over 2 million people made doantions under 200 bucks.
Its not about Obama..its about me and my family getting up off the sidelines and making a difference. Now I just got this email & i know i can't do it because my husband is deployed right now. I'm sure if he was here he would be fine with their lastest request. However, just because I can't do it doesn't mean that some of you cant. Please spread the word because I know this same request is going out to every state that is closly contested. Spread the word.
All across New Mexico, volunteers are talking with voters, spreading Barack's message of change, and working to build this movement through November.
This election could come down to our state. And as Election Day gets closer, hundreds of volunteers will be coming from out of state to help Barack win New Mexico. Some of them need a place to stay -- sometimes for as little as a few days, but often for a few weeks.
Do you have an extra bedroom or a foldout couch? Could you host a Campaign for Change staffer or volunteer at your home for a few days, a few weeks, or even through the election?
This is not a small request, but it's extremely important. Supporter housing goes a long way towards strengthening our movement for change.
Learn more and sign up to help the Campaign for Change by hosting a staffer or volunteer.
Someone from the campaign will contact you as the need arises.
If you have a guest room or any spare accommodations, hosting a staffer or volunteer is a great opportunity to make an impact.
The Campaign for Change will take into consideration any restrictions or concerns you may have, and match you with an appropriate staffer or volunteer.

hey Daddio! you sound like you have 2 teeth dangling in your head, rockin' in your trailer. you're the reason we've had Bush in the White House for the past 8 years. you should really compare Palin's debate transcript agains Bush's. It's eerily similar. Ad she wants more power. DO YOU KNOW WHO SHE IS? And McCain has plenty of skeletons in his campaign. Keting 5, R Davis, which doctors, religious fanatics, they're again's women's right to choose ... and on and on and on.
By the way democrats have controlled the house for only 2 years and you should review Bush's veto history during his terms, under the Repiclican majority and the two under Democratic majority.

For those who dont want to read very far down the list of comments, the information that the GOP is using to base their complaint can be found printed in comment #92 on this article.
Or, if you really are interested in researching it, google "Secret foreign money" and "Timmerman". I read the complete article on newsmax.com because it was the first of several listings for the information.
Otherwise, continue with the bashing, I guess.

ThinkingOne!?!
You expect us to read that hogwash by a republican drone...give me a break. I looked up the author Kenneth R. Timmerman and this is what I found:
Kenneth R. Timmerman (born November 4, 1953- ) is a journalist, political writer, and conservative Republican activist who in 2000 was a candidate for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senator from Maryland. Timmerman is executive director of the Foundation for Democracy in Iran, an organization that works to support democratic movements in Iran. Timmerman authored Shakedown: Exposing the Real Jesse Jackson. He has also written on the spread of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East, winning a prize for investigative journalism for examining an Iranian arms procurement ring and publishing The Death Lobby: How the West Armed Iraq in 1991.
So where are Timmerman's sources or did he, like the rest of DUMB, pull it out of his a--? If you are gonna try and trick us into reading a supposedly "unbiased" piece you may want to remove the name of the author next time!

RNC officials acknowledged Sunday that they do not have a list of foreign donors to Obama's campaign. Instead, the complaint is based largely on media reports, including one from a conservative Web site.
The complaint asks the Federal Elections Commission to audit Obama's campaign fund, RNC chief counsel Sean Cairncross said in a conference call with reporters.
nuff said... or... does Karl Rove want the rebubbacans audited too, mmmmmm?

I agree 100%. I guess this is what the GOP focuses on; this and trying to smear Barack for things that happened when he was a child; when they have nothing else to contribute to this electoral process. The ultimate egg on their face will be when they determine that Barack's campaign contributors are millions of Americans like myself who have taken a financial hit on the republican watch. We are, all of us, making a financial investment in someone who will serve us, and restore the concept of government for the people.

McCain is lambasted because he knew Keating but Obama can sit in Rev. Wright's church for 20 years and it's okay.
McCain did more than just "know" Charles Keating. He aided Keating in deregulations that led to the collapse of the savings and loan industry. McCain has continued his reckless deregulations that have brought us to where we are today, on the brink of bankruptcy.
Nice try Thinking, but from beginning to end, your post covers ALL of the GOP talking points. You do them proud.
Your straw man red herring obfuscations and politics of fear are being soundly defeated, FINALLY.
BTW, newsmax.com is an ultra right-wing propaganda machine.
Take a break.
- 2 votes
This is exactly what I'm talking about, KenPac.
You have attacked me and blasted me because I do not agree with your view of Obama. You did nothing to address my other concerns and all I did was print information for anyone who wanted to do their own research. This is the type of hostility common when people are afraid to look at what is really going on.
If my comments are truly strawmen, address them appropriately. If bringing up legitimate questions is a red herring, then what exactly is the agenda. The perception would be that the agenda might be to browbeat any dissention or questions in an effort to insulate someone against the truth. That is dangerous territory - truly.
Again, my point was that an audit would expose or clear Obama and automatic dismissal of the possibility is frightening or should be to anyone who actually cares about the truth.
As for the author of the article, I would suggest that a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize is hardly the caliber of journalist who distorts the media unlike several of those here.
Here is an introduction to the article in response to a question by a reader regarding the author's credentials:
The article was written by Kenneth Timmerman, President and director of the Middle East Data Project. He has authored a number of books including Countdown to Crisis: the Coming Nuclear Showdown in Iran. For his work in exposing the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear weapons program, he was nominated for the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize. Mr. Timmerman is also a member of the Board of Advisors of our sister organization, American Congress for Truth.
Timmerman's article reveals extremely disturbing evidence that foreign nationals from the Muslim world are trying to influence our presidential election through illegal contributions to the Barack Obama campaign. We're not talking a few dollars here. As Timmerman notes, the Federal Election Commission has compiled a list of questionable foreign contributions totaling nearly $34,000,000! We urge you to read the entire article.
The "mainstream media" has virtually ignored this issue, in spite of the many, many news reports coming out of the Middle East and Muslim world that document the strong support Barack Obama has there. On WABC radio, April 13, 2008, Ahmed Yousef, political advisor for the Hamas terrorist organization, said "We like Mr. Obama and hope that he will win the election..." There have been reports that Hamas was running phone banks into the U.S. during the Democratic nomination campaign urging American Muslims to vote for Obama.
It's bad enough that billions in Saudi money have been spent to set up Middle East studies programs on American college campuses that indoctrinate students in a whitewashed, sanitized version of Islam that covers up its violent history and the supremacist doctrines of political Islam.
Have we reached a point where petro-dollars in the hands of Muslim foreign nationals are trying to buy a presidential election as well? Whether one supports Obama or McCain is not the issue. If there's evidence of massive amounts of foreign contributions to McCain, we'll report that.
The issue is we are Americans first, and the prospect of foreign nationals trying to illegally influence our election process should be something that every American should oppose and want exposed, regardless of political party affiliation or candidate preference.

Actually, McCain does disclose all of his contributors. They are listed on his website as were Hillary's when she was in the running. Obama , thus far, has not disclosed his.
- 2 votes
An act of despartion, pure and simple. The GOP is onthe ropes and age grasping at anything that they think may save them.
- 3 votes
He disclosed what he WANTED to. I will bet you that there are many not on the list.
"Campaign funding has always been regulated. If Obama did take illegal contributions, then it should come out in an audit. Likewise, if he didn't, it will come out in an audit. Why are people hostile because the GOP is requesting that an audit take place?"
Because my name and address are on that list, as are millions of names and addresses on the list of Obama donors who contribute $5, $10, or $15 at a time. This morning I had a balance of $5.81 on a VISA Gift Card, and I donated that to the campaign. Nice and easy! And it's no Republican's business who I am, where I live, what I do for a living or how much I donate. Hillary wanted Obama's list, too, and she didn't get it because the Obama campaign wanted to protect the privacy of its small donors and the integrity of its campaign.
But what do Republicans care about privacy or know about integrity?
- 4 votes
Okay, salem, then the FEC should audit them both rather than not audit anyone. I am willing to bet McCain will go along with an audit. Will Obama voluntarily turn over his records as well?
It would seem to me that I would want everyone to know if an article like this were junk so I would turn over everything immediately to clear myself.
This is a serious issue and too many people are casting it aside as "desperate" or "reaching".
What if it's true people? Regardless of who asked the question, the answer is incredibly important.
- 2 votes
This is a serious issue and too many people are casting it aside as "desperate" or "reaching".
Only since Rush gave you your marching orders has it become a "serious issue" for the ditto heads. In the end, it is a meaningless distraction.
It's almost humorous to see the righties get hysterical over the possibility that a few dollars we contributed to the Obama campaign from "suspect" sources. The collapse of western civilization can't be far behind!
- 2 votes
Again, Ken, you have replied with a non-answer and a personal attack.
A personal attack does not necessarily discount what the person has said. My suggestion was to audit them both. Why is there a problem with that approach, Ken?
Obama supporters who attack any dissention are not helping endear him to anyone undecided. As I said much earlier, I am actually a registered Democrat but I have serious concerns about the legitimacy and the viability of Obama's candidacy. There seems to be a tight lid on what is exposed and what is not. This is not a good situation.
Obama supporters attacking anyone who disagrees with them are actually bringing more and more things into question. I have tried for months to watch the issues and base my decision on who I believe will be the best candidate. Hostility and aggression are entirely inappropriate when questions are asked.
A candidate who can defend himself with the truth is preferrable to a candidate who uses heavy handed attacks. I'm just asking for Obama to be as transparent as he expects everyone else to be.
- 3 votes
@ThinkingOne
Very well put and your points are valid. I guess the official "launch" of the smear campaign has crept under my skin a bit.
OK, an audit of both campaigns, fine. In the end, what does it mean? It means that the Republicans continue to fail by not offering ideas, only attacks.
They seem absolutely desperate to pin something, anything on Obama.
But you are correct and I apologize for the personal attack.
- 3 votes
Sunny T,
I'm not understanding why the FEC having your personal name and address is a problem. The purpose of any audit is to look at and verify the source of funds. They aren't going to post your information online or in the paper for public viewing.
Anytime you make contributions to any political campaign, it becomes part of that candidate's financial funding records. The FEC oversees campaign funds. The purpose of the FEC is to monitor and report on any funding violations according to current law.
The same set of laws that says that foreign nationals cannot contribute to our campaigns also protects your name and address if you, as an American citizen, do contribute.
- 2 votes
It is not my intention to allow anyone, not even an agency of the United States, to know for whom I vote. And I don't have to.
Now, if I walk down the street wearing my Obama '08 cap, that's a different story. But through my contributions to a political campaign, no. In that case I have no choice but to reveal my vote.
As I make a contribution on Obama's website, I read: "To comply with Federal law, we must use best efforts to obtain, maintain, and submit the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 per calendar year." Now I will be sure that my contributions amount to slightly less than $200.
What I object to is the insinuation, and that insinuation becomes fact in the minds of Republicans, and the campaign is entangled in dealing with worthless legal challenges. Other contributors may also feel intimidated into contributing less with the threat of an audit. And I don't for a second believe that this charge is designed to protect my rights as a campaign contributor!
- 3 votes
But when you contributed that money, you became part of campaign finance records. No one forced you to contribute although I am getting the sense that you may have contributed without understanding completely about becoming part of any potential audit of the finances.
The reason the campaign requested that information is because they are required by law to insure to the best of their ability that contributions are legal. This is for any contribution to any candidate running for public office.
For Mr. Good Will whose occupation is "Loving" and location is "you" to donate $25 x 1000 donations and for the Obama campaign to agree to start returning part of the money but without setting a date for the entire return, raises eyebrows and should. There wouldn't be any concern if they had declined when the amount contributed reached the legal limit, but they didn't. This is how your perfectly reasonable contribution came into question.
The fact that the media is reporting that McCain's finances are in question while continuining to ignore the questions about Obama's doesn't look very impartial. Again, if my finances were in question at all, they wouldn't have to wait for a story to break. I would be the first in line at the FEC to get it all straightened out. Sadly, Obama doesn't show any signs of acknowledging the issue.
If both candidates are willing to be above board about things and submit their records, then the FEC can get on with dispensing with the matter entirely - on both sides.

Lame.
Are you going to go to his house on Halloween to see if they are passing out candy, and then if they are run an "Obama is against children" smear campaign because candy causes cavities?

One more pathetic attempt to stop democracy. I know that I will not be voting for a republican again for a long, long time....this race has shown their true colors.

So I guess the 'merits' of the BO/Biden ticket are that they do anything they want whether legal or not and talk about their 'plans' but never say anything about those plans. If the media was doing it's job of actually checking out who BO is then the McCain campaign wouldn't have to be doing the media's job and could focus on the issues.
- 4 votes
Jim, thats ridiculous. McCain cant focus on the issues as he has no plans. Nor will he release his medical records cause they would show that the PLAN is for Palin (Bush in a skirt) to be president.
- 11 votes
Also Jim, if you feel that you have not learned enough about Obama's plans please read the Blueprint he has on his website detailing everything.
You cannot tell me that you honestly believe what you wrote. This is such a diversion it's unbelievable. You think the party that got Bush elected twice. TWICE! can't present it's case against what they refer to as a 'terrorist'? Come on! They are suffering because Obama has done something they weren't able to. If you listen to McCain and know him just a little bit ,you'll know he's a racist mad man that is furious he's not winning in his version of a Confederate flag country.
McCain scares me and Palin scares me even more. Obama has earned my trust and believe me i have done research daily on both of these campaigns for the past 2 months solid.

If the media was doing it's job of actually checking out who BO is then the McCain campaign wouldn't have to be doing the media's job and could focus on the issues.
Poor John, if ONLY the media were doing it's job, he could concentrate on his campaign! LMAO.
Jim, are there really any straws at all for you to grab?
Maybe McCain should tell us about his old friend Charles Keating. Since it cost the taxpayers Tens of Millions of dollars, we should at least get a story out of it!

McCain has dealt with the keating scandal for years whereas O'Bama has denied anything being wrong with Rev. Wright's sermons over the years. Then after saying he could no more disown Rev. Wright than he could disown his own white grandmother, who he threw under the bus as a racist. Then he did disown the reverend when it became politically expedient. There has not been anything that came out of O'Bama'a mouth that he would not change if it were in the way of him accessing power and money. When you hear about his plan to tax the rich then giving it to the underpriviledged in the name of "Fairness, the oldest of dem talking points, then claiming he will cut taxes for 95% of the US citizens. Where has O'Bama ever voted for a tax cut or against a tax increase when gigven the option? Will someone anyone cite one instance where this has been the case? Good luck. The rest of his campaign is just as full of half truths and lies designed to promote division in the country. If he is so strong on the issues, why does he not run against McCain instead of Bush? The reason is clear. Against Bush, who is not running for those who do not understand this point, O'Bama stands a chance. This is a tactic born of desperation as O'Bama has no p[lan he really wants to discuss openly. The reason his at best questionable associations, yes far more than one, are critical is that every thing he is running on is about wether he can be trusted to keep his word. If he is trying to fool you about who his friends are, and yes if you start your first political campaign at someone's house as he did with Ayers, he is your friend. The man who brought you into "religion" and had been your pastor for 20 years, who performed your wedding and molded your religious world view would be a strong influence on your life. To say otherwise is dishonest, just as saying "I never heard anything controversial in these last 20 years" is just not believable. If any of you has been in a church for any period of time, much less 20 years, you know that you could not sit there and not knowwhat the preacher believes and preaches. O'Bama's credibility is the issue at hand. If you have any doubts about what kind of man he really is, you understand what is at the core of this is.He doesn't want you to really know him. If you think you do know him and it is what you want in a peader, someone who wants to socialize more and more of the american economy in the name or "Fairness" which just means taking from one group and giving to another as he sees fit, then he is your kinda guy. Physical Blindness is a handicap, political blindness is a weakness. Learn all you can about a person's character then make a sober judgement. If the person says one thing and does another, you can believe what he does is what he really believes. Don't be fooled by a slick talking back to old ways politician trying all the same class warfare tactics the democrat party over all the years since the civil war. This is the party of slavery that the republicans were formed to end, and they succeeded, The republicans enacted the civil rights agenda by standing up for minorities in the 60's and had several big names bolt to the democrat party because they knew racism was still alive there, and still is. The only polls showing someone is voting based on race were about democrats, abotu 1/3 of which said they were voting for or against O'Bama based on nothing else. Vote your conscience, but make sure your candidate ison your side.
McCain and his agents are "gambling that he can distract you with smears rather than talk to you about substance," Obama added. "They'd rather try to tear our campaign down than lift this country up. It's what you do when you're out of touch, out of ideas and running out of time."
McCain's course correction reflects a growing case of nerves within his high command as the electoral map has shifted significantly in Obama's favor in the past two weeks.
"It's a dangerous road, but we have no choice," a top McCain strategist told the Daily News. "If we keep talking about the economic crisis, we're going to lose."

Why, exactly, won't McCain or Palin talk about their ideas for the future? Why won't McCain or Palin talk about their vision of America under their (alleged) leadership? Why won't McCain or Palin talk about exactly what they intend to "reform" as "mavericks" besides the goofus non-answer, "greed of Wall St."?
McCain & Palin have been completely outclassed by Barack Obama every step of the way!

McSame/Caribou Barbie can't discuss what they don't have-plans for the future. And yes, I think that this and all their little side trips are because they are falling behind and they have nothing else to discuss. Seldom glad when Nov. comes, but come Nov. come.

what about Obama's student loans being paid off with help form the BLack Panther party?
It's a lie. Next question Ryan?
Ken, did Obama release the records to you and nobody else? Obama refuses to release the records, and Percy Sutton, has said that Khalid Al-Monsour paid Obama's way. Al-Monsour was an advisor/mentor to the Black Panther Party, and many other hateful things.
did Obama release the records to you and nobody else?
No, did he release them to you? And if not, how do you make the assertion that the Black Panthers paid for Obama's education? Hersey? Not admissible.

The republicans are really showing how pathetic they are this time around. They even admit they don't really know anything, they're just doing this "because".

I'll tell you where the money comes from. From the hard working Americans who are sick and tired of being passed over and lied to time and time again by King George and his band of merry republican puppets. I'm on disability and I donated $10 x 2 and would definately give more if I could. I will also volunteer and do everything I can to make certain that McBush and his little mouth piece, McNurse, are not elected. ENOUGH!

And you can just bet the republicans will be first in line to file legal motions as soon as election day gets here. Faced with the fact that McCain might actually not win this one they turn to th very same legal system that helped bush get in in the first place.

The lie about republicans lining up lawyers is very old and deathly weak. Gore started the fight because the media and their exit polls convinced him he had been robbed. These were the same exit polls that created the headline " Dewey defeats Truman" which Truman was waving overhead during his victory parade. After all the votes were counted, he lost and he conceded this. The only ones clinging to this fantasy are tose who think they are so superior in thought and deed that anyone who disagrees must be too simple to understand. This is why so many people think your ideas are elitist and uninformed about the working man in this country. The onnly thing the suprmem court did was say that the Florida supreme court had to follow the law and not rewrite it to ride in and save the country. How ever I am sure that will never play into your concept of reality since the facts do not fall into your agenda.
The American people were the ones who were robbed, not Gore.

I agree! There should be no action taken until there is some kind of proof.
Just because Obama's early "community organizing" was for ACORN and included voter registration - for which ACORN was convicted of voter fraud more than once is no reason to jump to the conclusion that because the organization is guilty that Obama is guilty. It is however, reason to look.

I am also a community organizer who is registering people to vote in St. Louis, MO. And, do remember that Obama did great things for his community just like all of us who are community organizers and how is this organization's voters fraud related to Obama , remember he has way more dignity than most Americans do, Newsvine demonstrates the disparity in thinking in this country.
If you want to talk fraud, lets....now where do we start with McCain...oh ya, watch this......Mccain has enough ghosts in past to arise from the dead., and it not because he is OLD..........

"Reason to look...."
HA!
Obama did not work for ACORN.
Stop spreading lies, Republican.
- 2 votes
Folks - please read what I wrote. I said just because ACORN was found guilty is no reason to assume Obama is guilty.
Obama did wwork for ACORN as an attorney when he and a team of attorneys won a suit in 1995 which forced Chicago to implement the "motor voter" bill and he also did work as a trainer for Acorn operatives.
He reportedly raised money for ACORN through the Woods Foundations and others.
It would be interesting to look. He should be able to stand up to a little scrutiny.
Please read what *I* wrote. Obama did not work for ACORN, period. He was one of the lawyers involved along with the Department of Justice in the motor voter bill.
HE DID NOT work as a trainer for ACORN. That is a fact. You are trying to imply guilt by association, and Obama has suffered enough of that as well as answering all the bogus charges against him again and again. He has been under intense scrutiny through the entire primary process. If there were anything to discredit him to be found, Hillary Clinton surely would have found it. She was highly motivated.

I'm speechless. There are no words to describe the scum that is the RNC & the GOP. Scum is too nice a word. Even the lumps that I scoop out of my cat's litter box are cleaner than McCain/Palin.
Keep it up GOP. Not this time!! This time it will all fly back to hit you in the face so hard that McCain will have to retire (finally), and the lame-brain Palin might not even be able to finish out her one and only term as AK Governor. She certainly won't win a 2nd term.

My family was voting for the republican party all the way back to 1620! We've been proud republicans even before the party existed... just like the other 'former republicans' who post about how they've 'seen the light'. The only light that you've seen is the spot light that BO has been shining in your eyes so you can't seen that there's NOTHING behind his facade... When is he actually going to tell the world what he accomplished during his life... not what someone gave him but what he actually accomplished. I'm sorry, I forgot... he's already told us what he's done...nothing!!

Tradition is one thing Jim, but you might want to check your calender. We're no longer burning witches, (though some today are having evil demons and witches exorcised).
With the massive changes and iterations that the Republican party has gone through over the years, your "always voted Republican" comment is a little confusing.

I would rather shop at WalMart and buy stuff from the Chinese then do business with republicans. I think it's time to boycott some of these scumbags and see how they like the economy.
I'm fortunate to live in a upper middleclass town outside of Detroit, but way to close to where all the exec's from the car companies live. The money they throw around, and the so called charities they support are a joke. Since the CRASH, there are more and more garage sale signs in the ritzie neighborhoods. Seems like it's a sign of the times. Too bad they all have McCain signs in their yards!

Where did he get all this money? From people like me. I have given him $200.00, the first time I have contributed to a political campaign in 20 years. I gave it over the internet, along with over one million other small doners. No secret; no scandal.

they don't understand that regular working people make up 95% of donations in support of the Obama Campaign.
If you think you can help us in this way, please sign up to host someone:

Quit whining! All the GOP has done is nothing. The American people are fed up with Bush administration doing nothing.
I'm with you. I am insulted when she refers to the american public as all hocky mom and joe six-packs. I wish biden and Obama take the gloves off and put them where they belong, in the garbage with their worthless gibberish and no plans to help the hockey moms or joe six pack. Her mouth run it over and i'm sick of it. I can no longer stomach watching Bush, now i feel the same about those two. My dog has more sense than Palin, atleast he knows when to stop barking. 4 more years of the 8 we've had is too scary to even think about. I wonder, every time I'd ask someone if they voted for George Bush they'd say no, are you kidding... how in the heck did that happen.
Reality 101, You said:
"Jim.... take a break and compose yourself for God sakes, your snarl is showing...."
More like the green eyed monster JEALOUSY is showing.
All these people saying they give $5 , 10, 15, 20, 25 makes me so proud. I'm sending you all a great big ole cyber hug! Thank you!

Sharon you made my day also thank you. After reading so much repugnant junk I needed a chuckle. Thank you. I turn my sound down because her voice is so annoying.
Gee, I just found out that I'm not the only one that turns down the volume when McSham and Palin come on. The lies are just more than I want to hear. The GOP has every plan to give our country to the highest bidder. Look at the Top GOP leaders. Help, If you think I am fully of it, let me tell you, I went to the new Micheal's in our town yesterday and ask for cupcake liners for Halloween. Six green card workers, spoe among themselves trying to figure out what I needed. The store manager had to come out just to help me find cupcake liners, and 153,000 of our citizens filed this week for Employment Ins. My better half sets on hiring panels for our state and is not aloud to ask if the applicant is a citizen. Obama says he want to look into making NAFTA fair. GOP sure hasn't.
Obama/Biden all the way

For a candidate who supposedly wants the lawyers out of our lives, the McCain campaign sure does accept the Bush/neo-con legal assistance when they are stuck in a dark hole (Palin's subpoena) or they are desparately seeking any possible means - including LIES - to bring down Obama.
Pathetic - and definitely not showing the qualities of a leader. McCain sold out when he found it was the only way to be the candidate. He's a very sad story - no moral compass any more.
- 11 votes
Isn't that the truth. They claim to not be like Bush/Cheney but man... look at Troopergate, look at this pathetic attempt to swiftboat Obama. If this isn't Bush/Cheney all over again it is sure fooling me. Refusing to honor subpoenas, refusing to testify in a hearing. Now going to the extreme's here and even starting legal means to try to steal another election just like Bush/Cheney did.
HMMMMM sure looks familiar to me.
- 12 votes
Annette, you can't 'swift-boat' someone who's done nothing!! There are talkers and there are doers. The worst possible situation is when the talkers have to be the doers because all they can do is talk. BO has admitted that all he did as a community organizer was to get others to give money for those he represented. I think that's what a lobbyist does... nothing of their own, just getting others to do something. Wow!

So, you think Palin is accomplished? I have to laugh every time I hear her supporters tell us about "all the things she has done." You all know how to spin crap pretty well don't you. A drowning man will grab at even the smallest piece of wood, knowing full well that it won't keep him afloat, it is a desperate attempt to stay alive. This is what has become of the "Straight Talk Express".
Smear and deflect is really all they have left. It's interesting that the source of this is a "conservative web site". Could you maybe give us that web site so we can objectively review the source? No, much better to work in the shadows.
RNC officials acknowledged Sunday that they do not have a list of foreign donors to Obama's campaign. Instead, the complaint is based largely on media reports, including one from a conservative Web site.
I could set up a website today that claims McCain was a double agent during his years as a POW, splash it with non verifiable "sources", maybe even add a few pictures of his time in Hanoi. Based on this website, should we then investigate the "double agent"? Ridiculous!

Sarah Palin can not even answer simple questions. She is not qualified to hold any office

the reason that all they can come up with, is attacks on Obama/Biden Ticket.
There's a Russian Fleet in the caribean and in Syria (10 ships) and the republicans worry about campaign contributions in a campaign that has poorer donors on adverage than theirs. Actually their is something stinky about Obama on many fronts. His close association with slum lord & convicted criminal Rezco whom helped him climb the political ladder. The criminal actions of his campaign personnel at the caucuses, the lack of records of his 8 years in the Illinois senate. The boost up he got from the senate leader with the credit given to him for passage of bills he never worked on. The DNC in closing their eyes to all of this & their sham of a convention. No, it was not all from the low income citizens that he garnered all that money for his campaign. I am glad someone is finally going to check out something on him! Don't you people realize you are voting for a puppet?

Of course not. Mids been sipping at that flowing purple drink at the fount of the Repub brainwashing machine. If they can't dig up garbage, then they aren't Repubs. If they can't brainwash America's drones, then they can't swiftboat the Dems outta the water.
The only thing I'm worried about is, even if Obama wins by a landslide, the Repubs will get their powerful, secretive pals in the Supreme Court to throw out a victory on some trumped technicality. Way back in the 80's, I first began to recognize the adroit Republican brainwashing machine and began to believe, we were moving to a one party system because all the Americans fell in line for America's purple drink. It works everytime -- only in 2004, we got a label for it -- swiftboating!
Next, the Repubs will be saying Obama fathered a down-syndrome baby with Hillary and named her Sarah but gave the baby a laying down of the hands to purge the witches outta the poor thing.

If you don't know about Obama's legislation it's because you CHOOSE not to know. He didn't come to the Senate acting flashy as if he was going to save the world. However, he has plenty of bills as a jr senator. In fact he was ranked very high in terms on bills introduced and passed. 40% of his bills are with Republican co sponsors. He went to Russia with R-Lugar very early in his 1st year as Jr. Senator & R-Lugar was impressed and asked him to joining the power Foreign Services Committee.
Veterans: He has a PERFECT score card with all the Major Jewish Groups and Pacs. Obama has a 90% approval rating with Veterans while McCain only has a 20% approval rating in terms of passing or supporting bills that would benefit Veterans. Obama recently voted in favor if the GI bill while McCain voted against it. He is receiving 6 times more in donations from Military personnel than McCain.
As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, he helped create legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds. He also made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. During the 110th Congress, he helped create legislation regarding lobbying and electoral fraud; climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel. In 2005 he was ranked sixteenth, and in 2006 he was ranked tenth.[53][54] In 2008, he was ranked by Congress.org as the eleventh most powerful Senator.[55]
U.S. Senate time: Obama has sponsored 136 bills since Jan 4, 2005. Two have become law.[2] This figure does not include bills to which Obama contributed very substantially as cosponsor, such as the Coburn-Obama Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 or the Lugar-Nunn Cooperative Proliferation Detection, Interdiction Assistance, and Conventional Threat Reduction Act of 2006. Nor does it include amendments to other bills, although in the Senate these are not required to be germane to the parent bill and can therefore effectively be bills in their own right.[3] Obama has co-sponsored 619 bills during the same time period. Over all Obama has been more active in the Senate by than McCain by 60%. Obama has voted 100x More than McCain in 2005 with increased voter participation each year after while McCain’s activity as declined.

Education & International Travel: Obama moved to Los Angeles, where he studied at Occidental College for two years.[10] He then transferred to Columbia University in New York City, where he majored in political science with a specialization in international relations.[11] Obama graduated with a B.A. from Columbia in 1983, then worked for a year at the Business International Corporation[12] and then at the New York Public Interest Research Group.[13][14]
After four years in New York City, Obama moved to Chicago to work as a community organizer for three years from June 1985 to May 1988 as director of the Developing Communities Project (DCP), a church-based community organization originally comprising eight Catholic parishes in Greater Roseland (Roseland, West Pullman, and Riverdale) on Chicago's far South Side.[13][15] During his three years as the DCP's director, its staff grew from one to thirteen and its annual budget grew from $70,000 to $400,000, with accomplishments including helping set up a job training program, a college preparatory tutoring program, and a tenants' rights organization in Altgeld Gardens.[16] Obama also worked as a consultant and instructor for the Gamaliel Foundation, a community organizing institute.[17] In mid-1988, he traveled for the first time to Europe for three weeks and then for five weeks in Kenya, where he met many of his Kenyan relatives for the first time.[18]
Obama and his wife, Michelle, traveled to Bali where he wrote for several months. The manuscript was finally published in mid-1995 as Dreams from My Father.[22]
Organizations & Companies: Obama directed Illinois' Project Vote from April to October 1992, a voter registration drive with a staff of ten and seven hundred volunteers; it achieved its goal of registering 150,000 of 400,000 unregistered African-Americans in the state, and led to Crain's Chicago Business naming Obama to its 1993 list of "40 under Forty" powers to be.[23][24]
He also, in 1993, joined Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, a twelve attorney law firm specializing in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development, where he was an associate for three years from 1993 to 1996, then of counsel from 1996 to 2004, with his law license becoming inactive in 2002.[13][26]
Obama was a founding member of the board of directors of Public Allies in 1992, resigning before his wife, Michelle, became the founding executive director of Public Allies Chicago in early 1993.[13][27] He served from 1993 to 2002 on the board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago, which in 1985 had been the first foundation to fund Obama's DCP, and also from 1994 to 2002 on the board of directors of The Joyce Foundation.[13] Obama served on the board of directors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge from 1995–2002, as founding president and chairman of the board of directors from 1995–1999.[13] He also served on the board of directors of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the Center for Neighborhood Technology, and the Lugenia Burns Hope Center.[13]
State Legislator: Once elected, Obama gained bipartisan support for legislation reforming ethics and health care laws.[29] He sponsored a law increasing tax credits for low-income workers, negotiated welfare reform, and promoted increased subsidies for childcare.[30] In 2001, as co-chairman of the bipartisan Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, Obama supported Republican Governor Ryan's payday loan regulations and predatory mortgage lending regulations aimed at averting home foreclosures.[31]
Obama was reelected to the Illinois Senate in 1998, and again in 2002.[32]
In January 2003, Obama became chairman of the Illinois Senate's Health and Human Services Committee when Democrats, after a decade in the minority, regained a majority.[35] He sponsored and led unanimous, bipartisan passage of legislation to monitor racial profiling by requiring police to record the race of drivers they detained and legislation making Illinois the first state to mandate videotaping of homicide interrogations.[30][36] During his 2004 general election campaign for U.S. Senate, police representatives credited Obama for his active engagement with police organizations in enacting death penalty reforms.[

I would like to see some interviews of the people Obama grew up with (birth to today). I hate that all of his family members have passed away. Maybe when we were all trying to decide which person we wanted for our own party, we forgot to really look at who the other guys were. I know about Hillary and Biden, they have histories, they have people. Heck, we've even talked to enough people in Alaska to know who Palin is. I would like to know where Obama came from, and more than just a repeat of factoids. And more than what he says, or Michelle says, or Oprah says. It's not like Oprah's known him her whole life. Who is Obama? Really? I don't think we really know. And, personally, that is a very scary thought.
Hellooww..... there is plenty of information about Obama and who he is. About his youth and and young adulthood. Do you not watch TV or read?

CNN ran a couple of documentaries a while back of the lives of both Barack Obama and John McCain. You might not like that network, but I thought they were pretty balanced accounts of both men. Maybe you can find them on the internet somewhere.

Thank you for your suggestions. After a search, I skipped all the anti-Barack videos (we know who made those) and went to CNN and watched Revealed. If you are voting for Barack Obama, you need to get online and watch this video. I will surely be blasted for this, but if you are voting for this man based on his books or speeches (absolutely some of the best, most inspiring of this decade, no doubt), you need to see how he got to where he is. The first two segments were nice, though I wish they had less stories from him and his books, and more of other people's personal stories concerning him. But by the end of segment 6, I had chills. And not the good kind. He is the ultimate power player. How fast can he get to where he wants to be, who will help him get there and who does he need to move out of the way. His character is revealed in this documentary. He used the political machine to promote his career, used his law degree to wipe other candidates off the ballot (not just one, ALL), even joined a church because it was where all the big players went. Even CNN said things were done "with power from on high..", and they weren't talking about God, and they sure weren't talking about the people. Did he do any good along the way? Yes. But I know a man whose been a senator for forever because he puts on a fish fry every year. That's no reason to vote for anyone. Everyone has to see this show.
There is now no doubt in my mind (and there was a sliver before) that this man is only in it for himself, not for the people. If I thought I was scared before, now I'm petrified.
Please, watch this show.
Swing and a miss Misstocally
Your oh so sincere concern for the rest of us "before we vote for this man" is ridiculous. No go back to Rush and find out what your next marching orders are.

I don't like Rush. He was o.k. for the first six months of his career, but then he went crazy. Just to note, I don't like O'Reilly, either. Too much yelling. Ann's a nut, too. (Why does everyone have to be so violent?) I flip between 31, 37 & 39 (CNN, FOXNEWS, MSNBC). I asked a question and CNN gave me an answer. Did you actually watch the show? There is no way an open-minded person can't be a little concerned by what they see.
Republicans have now proved they are unworthy of citizen status. They have no proof of what they're stating- it's taken from a rightwing site- read that to be LIAR. These righties have no place in our country- they have done all they could to destroy it in the last 8 years- now they seem to want to bury the country., They are incapable of original thought- they are just addicted to the dollar- and will lie, cheat or steal to get all they can. Thery are living proof of the need for abortion- especially late term- say ages 30-50.

Jim... when people see BO speak and decide that he is who he says he is, they are either very stupid or naive! When very simple facts are presented but they don't accept them because they don't fit what they want to think, they are either very stupid or naive. When people lose millions of dollars because of regulations put in by the democrats, the same democrats who are blaming the republicans for no regulations, and people ignore the reality that the democrats are lying... they are either stupid or naive. Almost all the problems we have in this country now were not caused by real republicans, the problems have been caused by the coalition of democrats and people who campaign as republican but then vote with the liberals. Real republicans support the Constitution because anything else destroys this country... as BO is promising to do. When he gets in and we're suddenly back to the Carter years multiplied by 10, just remember that stupid or naive is also very dangerous, especially with a closed mind.

Yes, Jim B. Yet, the GOP of today is not the GOP that you refer to in your post. These fellows have an agenda of divide and conquer, simpleton talking points, and no "compassionate conservatism".
Today's GOP relay on scare tactics and breaking down the civil liberties and Constitutional powers. Yet, you look into that polished crystal ball and foretell a future with a vibrant and charismatic leader as a failure to our political system.
Personally, I'd vote any day for inspiration and hope over dusty rhetoric and empty promises, i.e. lies. We've had enough of the bull, time to take it by the horns.

Awesome, thank you, nuumskee. Obama also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School for 12 years.
He's led a very busy, very highly accomplished life thus far. Quite an achiever in every arena he's entered.

I am the working poor. I have no medical insurance and no permanent place to live. I make a little over minimum wage. Yet even I sent Senator Obama $15. I would have sent more but lost my internet service. I do not know where I will be living even next week, so I guess I will have to leave the giving to others. I pray Obama wins because he is the only one who seems to understand that Corporate America has gone unregulated, to make it convient for them to rob the people. He is the only one who seems to understand that America has taken on some new attitude of "pull yourself up by your bootstraps even if you have no bootstraps".
When our country was giving to the poor we did well. There was far less crime and far less drug addiction and imprisonments. Families were able to stay together longer and children had fathers. We are not like you. We are the less fortunate for what ever reason. Now you are unfortunate too, as the cost of living is now effecting you. Now you want help. You didnt mind getting that rebate handout did you? Funny its ok for you to get help but not us.
How do you expect people to take care of themselves when all our jobs have gone overseas? When the cost of living far exceeds our paychecks? Yes America was prosperous when it was helping the poor, but look at it now.

Our country has always given to the poor. Even before, ecspecially before, the the new deal of FDR, the poor did get food and shelter from those willing to give of themselves. Then FDR started the great socialist experiments. These are the programs that extended the great depression to 12 years instead of the 3 years the rest of the world had. This is also why it took 26 years for the stock market to recover after the crash of 1929. The government got in the way of the American people and deeply into their pockets. He ruled as absolute power and anyone who stood in his way was taken out of power, even supreme court justices. It took WWII to recover and that invoked rationing of almost everything for the war effort. This is the only similar situation in our nations history. The economy was stagnant for decades and the standard of living did not credibly increase in this time. If you think this insane $700 billion bailout is bad, waith until social security goes bust. It will happen because it is mostly feeding beauracracy instead of the people. When you hear "fairness" from a politician in respect to class envy, it means more socialism and more beauracracy which is just another bottomless money pit for government excess. You have been warned so ignorance is not an excuse, however stupidity will never be cured by any amount of information. While neither of McCain or O'Bama reaqlly seems to be a good choice, they are who we are saddled with at this time. And please don't bring up a third party candidate as a real choice since none of them can actually win. My greatest hope is the next set of primaries, people will get more engaged earlier, that we will create a credible third party, and the press will quit playing "Citizewn Kane" again. We need good information on the candidates from day one, not just at the end. Hopefully during the next cycle, everyone will get the kind of scrutiny that Gov.Palin has as quickly as she has. The biggest loser, outside the country, will be the press this election cycle. Their crediblitiy should be shattered after the sorry excuse for reporting done on either party, but they know who pays their salaries, that being political campaigns.
@Tom
See: "Grapes of Wrath"
And don't even start to tell me this was a work of fiction!
I LOL'ed.
Europe recovered on the strength of the german economy run by the National SOCALIST Party. Say what you will about them, they knew how to run their economy.
Also remember, the Supreme Court blocked most of FDR's initiatives. It wasn't until a few of the justices stepped down that the laws started to have an effect. Starting with 1935, the economy began to recover. The economy might have recovered sooner if the Supreme Court didn't try to circumvent the Congress.
Pure free market systems can not function today, because coorporations have killed competition that would have kept the balance. Whats to stop one company from putting the economy at risk to make a buck, when theres no one that can compete, and no oversight from preventing them from doing so?
Thats why minimum wage and overtime laws were passed in the 19th century, and child labor and overtime laws were put into effect later. I suppose you feel we should overturn those laws, as they are by DEFINITION, anti-Capitalistic laws. While we're at is, lets disband Medicare, Medicade, and Social Security. You can't fund socialist programs on one hand, and say that socalism is the cause of every economic downturn on the other.
Finally, note the last two economic downturns happened on Republican watch (Regan and Bush), both of which featured banking collapses caused by de-regulation of the economy.
